Compounding
  • At Rogers Drug Store, we’ve been serving Modesto with friendly, personal care for decades. Now, we’re excited to announce that custom prescription compounding—including sterile and non-sterile compounding—will be available soon right here in our pharmacy.

This upcoming service will allow us to create medications in forms, strengths, and combinations tailored specifically to you—something that mass-produced prescriptions can’t always provide. Whether you have unique health needs, allergies to certain ingredients, or trouble taking medication in traditional forms, our compounding service will be here to help.

Prescription Compounding

What Is Prescription Compounding?

Prescription compounding is the art and science of preparing personalized medications for patients. Instead of dispensing a commercially available product “as is,” compounding pharmacists can adjust ingredients, strengths, dosage forms, and even flavors to meet your specific needs.

When our compounding service launches, we’ll be able to:

‎‎

  • Remove unwanted dyes, preservatives, or allergens.
  • Create discontinued or hard-to-find medications.
  • Customize doses for children, pets, and patients who need non-standard strengths.
  • Change medication forms—such as turning a pill into a liquid, cream, or lozenge.
  • Improve taste and texture for better compliance, especially for pediatric or geriatric patients.

Sterile Compounding – Coming Soon

Sterile compounding involves preparing medications that must be completely free from bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants. These medicines are often injected, infused, or placed in the eye, where sterility is critical for safety.

When available, our sterile compounding service will include:

Injectable medications

  • Prepared under strict sterile conditions.

Ophthalmic solutions

Eye drops that require a sterile environment.

Intravenous (IV) Preparations

Tailored to each individual patient needs.

We’ll follow USP <797> standards and maintain a controlled clean room to ensure patient safety and medication quality.

Non-Sterile Compounding

Non-Sterile Compounding – Coming Soon

Non-sterile compounding covers a wide variety of medications that don’t require sterile conditions, such as:

  • Topical creams, ointments, and gels for pain, skin conditions, or hormone therapy.
  • Capsules or tablets in customized doses.
  • Oral suspensions and syrups for patients who can’t swallow pills.
  • Suppositories for certain therapeutic needs.
  • Flavored medications to make treatment more palatable for children or pets.

Our team will be able to create non-sterile compounded medications using high-quality ingredients and precise formulas, ensuring each preparation is as effective and safe as possible.

Why Compounding Matters for Modesto Patients

Living in the Central Valley means having a community with diverse health needs—from active families and agricultural workers to seniors and those managing chronic conditions. Commercially available medications can’t always meet those unique needs.

Compounding will allow us to provide solutions for:

Patients with allergies or intolerances to common medication ingredients.

Children who may require smaller doses or flavored medicines.

Elderly patients who need alternative forms for easier administration.

Local physicians and veterinarians needing specific medication strengths for patients & pets.

  • Training our pharmacists and technicians in the latest USP standards.
  • Designing a clean room that meets rigorous safety and sterility guidelines.

When we open this service, you can trust that every compounded medication will be prepared with the highest level of care, precision, and safety.
