Jobst Compression Garments

A Brief History...

Conrad Jobst founded JOBST® in 1950 in Toledo, Ohio. Conrad suffered from venous disease and developed the socks to relieve the symptoms of venous insufficiency.

Conrad passed away in 1957 and his wife successfully took over the business and as Caroline expanded the product lines, sales extended to every continent thanks to the exceptional quality of the products.

Jobst was acquired by Beiersdorf AG, Hamburg Germany in 1990 who also purchased VARITEX in Germany and renamed it Jobst in 1996.

On April 2, 2001, the business was renamed BSN-JOBST as it became an affiliate company of BSN Medical Inc., a joint venture holding company equally owned by Smith & Nephew and Beiersdorf.

Lifestyle Factors

Problems with the veins of the leg occur in both men and women of all ages but certain factors increase the risk such as health conditions, heredity, lifestyle habits, injury, surgery, age, and pregnancy are all a factor.

It's apparent we cannot control heredity or the aging process, and surgery and changes during pregnancy happen. We can, however, improve our lifestyle through exercise, avoiding inactivity, good posture, choosing properly fitting clothing and footwear, and wearing gradient compression hosiery that is right for you.

Gradient Compression hosiery gently squeeze the legs from the ankle up the leg. This compression or squeezing affect is believed to increase pressure in the tissue beneath the skin which in turn reduces any leakage of fluid from the capillaries which helps to prevent swelling.

Talk to your physician if you have tired, achy legs, spider veins or varicose veins. Ask if Jobst compression hose along with exercise and increased activity may be the solution for you!
